Instructor of Spanish

In August of 2022, I graduated from the University of Georgia with an M.A. in Linguistics and a Graduate Certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. I concentrated in Second Language Acquisition and Latin American Multilingualism. For AY 2022-2023, I am teaching three sections of SPAN 1110 (Accelerated Elementary Spanish).

During my time as an M.A. student, I was awarded three Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships to study Quechua, the largest indigenous language of South America. Under the direction of my major advisor, Dr. Chad Howe, my master's thesis, Language Attitude Influence: Association of Quechua with English Enhances Positive Attitudes toward Quechua, investigated the possibility of ameliorating negative attitudes toward a stigmatized language (Quechua) by associating it with a prestige language (English).

My research interests include but are not limited to Third Language Acquisition, Language Attitudes, Language Contact, and Comparative Grammar.
