Mounawar Abbouchi received her BA in English at the Lebanese American University in her hometown of Beirut, Lebanon and went on to get her MA in Comparative Literature at UGA. Her thesis was an edition and translation of a medieval French epic poem titled Yde et Olive. It was the first translation into Modern English and was published in 2018 in Medieval Feminist Forum: A Journal of Gender and Sexuality. The text deals with issues of gender and sexuality.

Before beginning her PhD in Fall 2021, she taught literature, composition, and ESL for several years in Beirut. She loves to travel, and enjoys cooking and playing board games.

Research Interests:

I am interested in all things medieval, especially medieval French literature, paleography, gender and sexuality, representation of women in medieval literature, representations of the Middle Ages in modern pop culture, adaptations and retellings (in particular adaptations of classical sources in the Middle Ages), and translation.
