Literary works and cultural artifacts in their contexts from the nineteenth century in France. Literary movements from Romanticism to symbolism may be studied, as well as the literary and social influences brought about by the wars, revolutions, and innovations of this period. Given in French.

This course takes up a theme common to many works from the French Nineteenth Century. In the past, Realism, Literary and Painterly Impressionism, and the Crisis of the Mechanical Reproduction of Works of Art have been chosen as themes.
