Master's Student, Portuguese, Teaching Assistant of Portuguese Yasmin Paiva de Siqueira is originally from São Paulo, Brazil. She holds a Bachelor's and Teaching Degree in Language and Literature (Portuguese and English) from The Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Human Sciences of the University of São Paulo (FFLCH/USP). Currently, she is a second year Master's student in the Portuguese Program in the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Georgia. Moreover, she is a Teaching Assistant for Portuguese in the aforementioned department as well as a Portuguese Tutor for the Flagship Program. During the 2024-2025 academic year, she was the Portuguese language tutor for the department, responsible for advertising, promoting and providing tutoring and conversation drop-in hours to undergraduate language students. In the spring of 2025, she served as the content editor of Fala aí, the Portuguese Program’s award-winning, bilingual, multimedia, student-run magazine about Lusophone cultures and the Portuguese language (ISSN 2689-1506 [online] / ISSN 2689-1492 [print]). Prior to that, she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and worked as a Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) for Portuguese at Spelman College in Atlanta (GA) during the 2023-2024 academic year. With over 12 years of classroom experience as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher, she has taught students of all ages (ranging from kindergarten to adults) both in person and online. She has extensive experience in designing classes tailored to students’ needs. Moreover, she is certified by Anaheim University (California) after completing the following teaching courses: “TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)” and “TEYL (Teaching English to Young Learners)”. Lastly, her research interests include Literature, Women's writings, Afro-Brazilian literature, Cinema and Education.
