
The Romance Languages Colloquium is a series of free, open to the public events organized by graduate students of the Department. The spirit of the event is to share our department’s work with the community, making us more aware of what our colleagues do and giving us the opportunity of talking to about our production.
LA TESIS DEL QUECHUISMO PRIMITIVO
Dr. Rodolfo Cerrón-Palomino, a specialist in Andean languages, holds a Master's degree from Cornell University (Ithaca, New York) and a PhD in Linguistics from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Lima) and the University of Illinois (Urbana Champaign campus). He is Professor Emeritus of the University of San Marcos and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. He is also Doctor Honoris Causa of the Universidad Nacional del Altiplano and the Universidad Nacional del Centro del Perú. He is an honorary member of the Linguistic Society of America (USA).
In his vast career as a teacher and researcher, Rodolfo Cerrón-Palomino has been a visiting professor and lecturer at various universities in his country of origin and abroad, and has published several books and numerous articles in his specialty in nationally and internationally renowned journals. Among his most recent works are: Las lenguas de los incas (2013), Tras las huellas del Inca Garcilaso (2013), El uro de la Bahía de Puno (2016), Diccionario huanca: quechua castellano/ castellano quechua (2018), Materialidad, memoria y lengua en la Relación de las fábulas y ritos de los Incas (1575) de Cristóbal de Molina, edición crítica y filológica (2021), y Toponimia andina: introducción a sus problemas y métodos (2024).
