The Spanish program connects you with real people to develop your fluency as you explore the richness of the Spanish language and its diverse traditions.

Dive into media, art, books, and film in courses designed to build your proficiency and knowledge of new places and a vast cultural heritage. Spanish majors are well-prepared for professional careers in healthcare, law, education, business, public service, technology, journalism, or the arts

If you want more classes taught in Spanish, select the original track of the Spanish major. For ease of integration with your other degree(s), choose the Spanish Interdisciplinary track.

Courses

Put your Spanish to use from the very first semester, with project and task-based instruction centered on communicative proficiency and cultural competence in the real world.

Hands-On Learning

Students of Spanish at UGA have many opportunities to converse socially, meet one-on-one with graduate student tutors, publish, work in the Athens community for credit, and conduct collaborative research with faculty mentors. Even learn to handle 300 year-old books in UGA's Special Collections archives.

Watch student video on editions of Don Quixote in the UGA Special Collections Archives, a project by Dr. María Mizzi's SPAN 4040 class.
