PhD Student
Romance Language Linguistics
Teaching Assistant of Spanish

I'm a Ph.D. student in Romance Language Linguistics and currently instructor of record for SPAN 2001.

Between completing my M.A. and starting my Ph.D. here at UGA, I was a lecturer for 5 years at SUNY Potsdam in Northern New York teaching Spanish, French, and English for non-native speakers. I also volunteered with AFS as a liaison and orientation coordinator for high school students from abroad studying in the U.S.

Study abroad holds a special place in my heart as part of the teaching experience. I have worked as a program assistant for UGA in Spain for 5 summers (four in Cádiz, one in Sevilla). While at SUNY Potsdam I developed and lead a short-term study abroad course to Spain and Morocco. I feel privileged to have worked with many students for whom it was their first experience out of the country and am honored to have been part of their experience as they step out of their comfort zones and begin to see the world in a new way.

As a northerner, I'm a figure skater at heart; but since being back in Athens I've taken up Latin dancing. You can find me at tango club on Mondays (Tate 473, 6:15 beginners, 7:15 intermediate) and practicing for performances with my bachata group on the weekends. For salsa, catch me at a social dance. Want info on when it where to social dance latin dances in Athens? Just ask!

I am a walking reminder that not all disabilities are visible and a firm believer that mental health is health. I would not be where I am today if it weren't for the accommodations I receive from Accessibility and Testing (formerly known as the Disability Resource Center).  I welcome any and all questions about invisible disabilities, mental health, chronic illness, resources or on how to apply for accomodations from A&T.
