Cecília Rodrigues, Cris Lira, and Ligia Bezerra (Arizona State U) have edited a special issue of the prestigious literary journal Estudos de Literatura Brasileira Contemporânea housed at the University of BrasíliaTitled “Occupying Spaces: Legitimation of Contemporary Brazilian Women Writers,” and featuring ten articles, one book review, and two interviews, the dossier aims to highlight the fertile literary production of women writers from all corners of Brazil and abroad. Through conferences, book fairs, soirees as well as through access to independent publishers, women writers have been coordinating a support network in order to democratize the publication of their work. This special issue is a way to bring to the fore the making of an archive that deserves the attention of literary critics not only to be legitimized as an integral part of contemporary Brazilian literature but also to serve as a way of mapping other visions of Brazil.

The publication is open access and can be read here.
