This fall, the Italian program welcomed two new lecturers, Dr. Giampaolo Molisina and Dr. Massimiliano Lorenzon, as the program celebrates a 17% increase in Italian minors over the past year.

  • Dr. Giampaolo Molisina brings experiential learning to ITAL 2002 with activities like a tiramisu workshop, visits to Special Collections to view rare Italian texts, and bilingual tours at the Georgia Museum of Art.
  • Dr. Massimiliano Lorenzon energizes language learning through game-based instruction and cultural tastings. Students enjoy weekly Italian candy explorations and hands-on events like Cannoli Day.
  • Dr. Samantha Gillen, a Teaching Academy Fellow, has introduced active learning strategies in ITAL 2500 and launched a new conversation course, ITAL 2030. She also hosted the program's first Gelato Social, drawing in over 75 students.
  • Dr. Jeff Kilpatrick promotes creativity and confidence in language practice and will soon be hosting our annual bocce tournament.
  • Dr. Lisa Dolasinski, Italian Language Supervisor, is leading curriculum revision and innovative projects like film analysis websites and digital flipbooks. She also organizes a variety of cultural events, including the Halloween social and an affogato tasting at Condor Chocolates.

Together, our Italian faculty are creating dynamic, immersive experiences – from interactive reading workshops to community engagement – making Italian at UGA more vibrant than ever.
